The Royal Easter Show - Sydney





Easter Show is Australia’s largest annual events in Australian culture. It combines innovation, heritage, education and entertainment. The show currently attracts one million people per year. The Sydney Royal Easter Show usually lasts from 1 to 14 April.

The Easter Show is held at Sydney Showground in Sydney Olympic Park. Sydney Showground is conveniently serviced by bus, train, ferry and taxi services. You can catch train and get to Olympic Park and also you can use regular Sydney Bases, Liverpool to Parramatta and Sydney Ferry services.

In 2010 ticket's prices were:

Adult - $33

  • Concession card holder - $26
  • Person with a disability - $22 (plus one carer admitted free)
  • Child (4 -15) - $22 (plus school aged children over 16 years with an ROA School Pupil ID card)
  • Child (3 and under) - FREE

Each year hundreds of businesses benefit from participating in Australia’s largest marketing event with up to 900,000 visitors and an estimated $76,000,000 spent over 14 days.

There were some epic adventures on the carnival rides this year. In 2010, the rides were bigger, faster, higher. Many adults and children enjoyed Easter Show.

There were amazing Carnivals during Easter Show: Kids Carnival and Coca-Cola Carnival.

Senior citizens are the big winners at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show with two days full of amazing value and tailor-made entertainment.

Highlights for seniors

  • Entertainment in the Big Top Amphitheatre
  • Complimentary tea and coffee served between 9 and 2 at the Big Top Amphitheatre, courtesy of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW
  • NSW Seniors Card will be giving away free sample bags for the first 10,000 NSW Seniors Card members through the Show gates.
  • Bring your grandkids along! On Seniors' Days, NSW Seniors Card holders can ride free with a paying child on all rides in the Carnival areas between 9.30am and 5pm, except for the Sling Shot.
  • Purchase your ticket online during the pre-sale period (February 1 to March 18) and you receive a 10% discount on the standard ticket price, for a total of $23.40 each, Tickets purchased at Australia Post, CityRail, buses or after the pre-sale period ends cost $26.00

Food & Shopping

There were a carnival of cuisines, a festival of flavours and a shopping spectacular in store at the 2010 Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Woolworth's Fresh Food Dome for amazing products, cooking demonstrations, celebrity chef events and the chance to try some delicious creations from the kitchen whizzes.

Royal Deli for a mouth-watering array of cheeses, condiments, preserves and dips, all medal-winning products from the 2009 or 2010 Show.

Graze Stage

There was also a musical mega festival, a cultural cornucopia happening at the Graze Stage in 2010. It included several events: Country Ceremony, Show School Bands, dance, cultural and martial arts troupes, 7 Street from New Zealand and Suruky from Bolivia, and also Police Force Band.

TAWFA Fashion Parades

This event was a showcase for the luxury, the style and the supreme versatility of the superfine Merino wools that are the pride of Australia’s flocks.
Students from secondary and tertiary institutions competed for recognition and substantial prizes.

The 2010 Australian Wool Fashion Awards Presentation Night took place on April 7 in the Cox Pavilion.

Arts Pavilion

Associated with the Show, and displayed in same pavilion as craft competitions was an Art Show with classes for Rural subjects, Still Life, Watercolour and Figurative painting. There were competitions for sculpture, photography, silverwork and ceramic.

Planet Cake was sponsoring the Most Creative Cake Competition, providing prize money to the winner as well as the opportunity to attend one of their exclusive courses in cake decorating.

Kids World.

Pass through the laughing clown’s face to enter a world of fantasy, adventure and fun designed to appeal to kids under 12. Also some of the latest interactive games, toys, food products and scientific wizardry as Professor Jellybean conducted his experiments. The kids might even get to meet SCOOBY-DOO™ Hanna-Barbera ©

The entertainment culminated with firework.
